Once reserved for high-end homes, quartz countertops are finding their way into more and more kitchens and bathrooms as brand offerings expand and the material becomes more accessible and affordable. A favorite premium countertop material by kitchen and bathroom designers, quartz is often confused with natural stone and solid surface countertop materials. Unlike marble or granite countertops, quartz ones are man-made and consist of quartz chips or dust mixed with resin, which are plant- or synthetically-derived polymers that can mimic the look of natural materials. Though most of the countertop is comprised of quartz, up to 10% of the countertop may be resin.

People believe marble is a material is better suited for indoors, and in most cases they would be right. But you can still make it work for outdoor usage too. If you’re a fan of marble and you want to use it for your outdoor kitchen countertops, there are a few things you should know before you make a decision. Under Minnesota’s typical rain and wind, a polished finish will almost certainly be worn away. You can, however, keep it looking fresh if you stay on top of sealing it regularly. But if you’re not a fan of maintenance, go with a honed finish instead.

Granite countertops meet a variety of styles and interiors, but most available colors of the granite countertop are black or brown, although most granite that is mine are darker colored. They are the most porous and easiest to dye and can be dyed in various ways, such as black, white or even red.

If you find that your granite worktop needs to be sealed again, you can simply sprinkle a few drops of water on the granite surface. If it has become a bit boring in some places, you can polish the somewhat boring granite with a DIY granite polishing set and bring back its original shine.

Never use rough granite-based vinegar cleaners and treat your granite countertops properly by cleaning them with neutral pH cleaners. Check the cleaning process in your grocery store or large-box store for granite countertop cleaning products. You should use a special granite coaster, but never a hard vinegar-based cleaner with granite.
